About the club

Swinbrook CC originally started life as Asthall CC in the adjacent Oxfordshire village of Asthall in the 1930’s. The original team consisted of mostly farm and estate workers from the local villages, which remained the case when the club moved to its current location on the edge of Swinbrook village next to the river Windrush in the 1950’s; then becoming Swinbrook CC. Our Cotswold location alongside the river Windrush is the envy of many other local cricket clubs with its idyllic setting. We currently have one league team on Saturdays playing in the Cherwell Cricket league, and a number of friendly games both midweek and on Sundays are arranged across the whole season. We also have a strong social following for non-players, with the clubhouse and bar open on match days from 1pm until 10pm and Thursday evenings from 6pm when there‚Äôs an Aunt Sally or darts match.

We are a non-profit making organisation and are self managed by the membership and a small committee. We form an important part of the community and village life while providing a sense of belonging, and bringing together passionate players of the game, where playing is the main objective and not necessarily the winning!

We are easy to find by taking the Swinbrook turn off from the A40 between Witney and Burford and following the road down into the village. Swinbrook CC is on the left side of the road at the Burford/Asthall crossroads prior to the village. Our postcode for Sat navs is OX18 4DX.
